We are in Lockdown, so does my dog still need day-care?
In essence, you are sat at home, trying to work so your dog doesn’t need day-care, right?
Wrong!
Dogs are very sociable animals and in the wild they travel in packs for that very reason. However at home, while they love their hooman families to bits, they also enjoy mixing with their own kind. Coming to day care is therefore not always out of necessity, for example because their owners are out all day at work. It’s also because of the fun they have playing with their four-legged friends and in turn learning new and important doggy social skills.
Some dogs are also couch potatoes! Given the chance they will laze about all day. This is not good for their physical or mental health (bit like us hoomans!) and can lead to canine obesity – an all too common and growing issue. A day outdoors with their doggy friends will ensure a fit, healthy and tired pooch which means happy owners too.
If dogs are left to their own devices for too long, whilst you are busy zooming for example, then they can soon before bored. Boredom, especially in young dogs, can lead to destructiveness and bad behaviours.
By allowing fido to attend creche one or two mornings a week, will get some much needed energy out of them, and allow you to zoom in peace AND have a kitchen left afterwards!
Having had their human family home for a lot of the time last year means if your dog is suddenly left alone for even a few minutes, they can experience separation anxiety. They don’t understand the full extent of the situation do they? By taking them along to day-care, even one day a week will give them a break from you and allow them to start coping again without you ready for when you book that awesome holiday….eventually!
So you see, its kind of impawtant to your pooch, to allow them to be…a pooch and we are very good at allowing them to do just that!
